Does a person’s height have anything to do with the distance of the golf ball?

I am a petite woman with custom clubs and I have noticed that my friends who are all over 5'7" can hit the ball longer and higher than I can (they can hit 150 – 200 yards yet I am lucky to get 75 – 100). I understand that I have a different swing plane but would this affect the distance or is it something else?

I'm 6' tall and am one of the longer ball strikers among ladies my age in my area, but there are many much shorter than I who hit farther…some a LOT farther and are 12" shorter!!! It has to do with timing and how much coil and turn through the ball they make.

I think the arc of my swing is very long comparitively, so it takes more strength and speed to achieve the same thing a shorter person does…if you tied a button onto a piece of thread you would see it in action – swing the button in a circle with the thread – the smaller the circle the faster the button goes, the more thread you let out, the circle gets bigger and the button travels slower. That's just one part of it, but it tells you that height isn't everything!
