Getting your golf swing plane right is easier than you think. Every golfer’s dream is a perfect golf swing to blow the opposition out of the water every single time. And this dream is not as elusive as it seems. If you have read Golf Swing Plane: 5 tips on improving your golf swing plane, you are part of the way there. Today we are looking at how balance affects the quality of you golf swing plane.
How’s your Balance?
Are your shots flying about erratically? Are you beginning to lose your patience? Well the reason behind this erratic golf swing could be simpler than you think. On of the most common issues in amateur golfers is poor balance, which causes a poor golf swing plane.
So how do I check my balance?
Checking your balance during your golf swing plane couldn’t be any simpler. If you are right handed take out a quarter and place it on the toe of your left shoe (Place on the right hand side shoe if left handed).
What’s the whole point?
We are going to try to keep that quarter on your left toe, throughout the duration of your golf swing plane. After swinging, you’ll take a look to see where the quarter has fallen, and find out why it happens.
Coin has fallen to the outside?
If the coin has fallen on the outside of you foot it means that you have fallen back on your heel on the finish, or you have rolled out too far on the outside of your foot.
Coin fallen on the inside of your foot?
If the coin has found itself on the inside of your foot, it means that you have moved too much weight backwards during your backswing, causing your front foot to roll too much.
Coin fallen on the front of your shoe?
This indicates that you have lifted your front foot off the ground too far, meaning you are placing too much weight on the back foot.
So what is the solution then? And how do I use my balance to improve my golf swing plane?
In order to get the coin to stay on you front foot and improve that golf swing plane, you will need to finish with all of your weight over the arch of your front foot and with your stomach facing toward the target.
If you are determined to gain that killer golf swing plane, you will need to improve you balance during your golf swing plane. In addition I advise you to have a read over my earlier post Golf Swing Plane: 5 tips for beginners and subscribe to my blog for regular updates on posts.
