Looking for a good golf training aid.?

I have trouble squaring the face at impact and coming in on a good swing plane. I plan to take lessons but would like to see what else can help. I am considering the ernie else system or the inside approach. Does any one suggest one over the other or even anything else? Thanks

I have gone through this as well and let me tell you from experience that a Good PGA Qualified Instructor cannot be replaced by a " Training Aid " A qualified instructor can tell you exactly what you are doing wrong and begin to correct you right away , he can also tell you if you have the right clubs , have you been fitted for clubs ?? a qualified instructor can do all this for you , and yes it will cost you more in the long run but you will be all the happier and better appreciate this Great Game called Golf .

You and your Family Have a Great Christmas.

Thanks for your kind comments Advocate , its always nice to find someone who calls one names instead of producing facts , Great Job !!!! and by the way I have never seen or used a circular trainer , and a PGA instructor has taken me from a 15 Handicap to a single digit , but that's just me , even though you can only call one names I still wish you a Merry Christmas to you and your family as well , If your nice maybe Santa will bring you some Game !!

Tips On keeping the Club on The swing Plane?

Does anyone have any decent tips on how to keep my golf clubs on the straight swing plane on my backswing/downswing? My manager noticed I moved my hands around a little bit when I swing.

Try this drill:

1. Put a driver headcover under your right armpit and compress it with the right arm
2. Do a normal upswing
3. Keep the HC under the right armpit and don't let it drop
4. Perform the downswing and try to hit the ball and keep the HC compressed
5. During the takeaway the HC should fall just beside you when you complete your turn

This drill will promote inside-out swing and you should be able to do without the HC after a few practice.

Try it if it works, vote me for best answer.

How to fight a golf slice?

I've been having trouble wtih a push and push slice in my golf swing. I've been trying to go more inside out but still have problems coming accross my chest….but like many I have a problem pulling my arms accross my chest early thus end up going outside in? Will early release of the club allow my arms to more naturally and easily go from inside out? Havent had a chance to go back to the range since i thought of this? What are you thoughts? Focus on the inside out and hopefully the cllub will realease in time…or focus on the club release and this will promote the inside out plane? Im trying to break the swing down in parts so i can figure this thing out…thanks.
i just went to the range and took a look at my ball flight…I dont think I have a typical slice…more of a push…or the extreme opposite a pull hook…after some research…i dont think i have an outside in swing plane…i think on the downswing i am over the top and am cutting down and accross the ball…so that if my club face is closed ill pull hook it…or if it is open ends up being mostly a push and sometimes slice if the face is extremely open…does this sound right?
Thanks for the help guys…i just got back from the range…after thousands of balls hit at the range…its finally clicked…i didnt have an outside in plane…i was coming down to steep then cutting across or down on the ball then i would pull across my chest….so that if the face was closed i would pull or hook it…if the face was open i would slice or push it…anyhow…figured that if i start from the feet and just let my club fall naturally so that its more sweeping action i would get that coveted in out swing plane…after i made an adjustment to the offset ( i was better with my 7-4 iron…until i understood that the shorter irons had less offset) …i would say 7 out of my 10 balls i had solid contact…the other 3 were either face open or closed…its finally clicked!

Sounds like you're swinging with hands and arms. Try starting the club back by turning your left hip, then start the downswing by turning your right hip. Light grip, let your arms be passive and loose while trying to keep the left reasonably straight.

You can feel the club whip through on the inside. Your torso is much stronger than your arms, and will hit the ball farther. It's just more intuitive to hit with your arms, that's why golf is so difficult to learn.

Aslo, by using hip action you'll make a much better turn back and through, should hit the ball more consistently.
